The World Health Organization is the directing and coordinating authority on international public health within the United Nations system. Founded in 1948, WHO sets global health standards and supports member states in building resilient national health systems guided by the foundational principle that the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is a fundamental right of every human being.
Delegates in this committee will examine the multilateral frameworks through which states cooperate on shared health challenges: how are global health emergencies declared and managed? What mechanisms exist to ensure equitable access to medicines and vaccines across high- and low-income countries? How do WHO recommendations translate into enforceable national policy, and where do the limits of international health governance lie?
WHO is an ideal starting point for first-time delegates. The committee's emphasis on cooperative problem-solving, clear procedural guidance from Chairs, and universally accessible subject matter creates an environment where newcomers can engage confidently, develop their public speaking.
The agenda for this committee will be confirmed once our Chairs and Secretariat team are finalised. Delegates will be notified as soon as agendas are released through official conference channels.
